Core Pilates Studio

Allegro Tower Reformer

Core Pilates Studio located in historic downtown McKinney, Texas offers pilates, yoga and chakra balancing. Core Pilates Studio specializes in group and individual pilates classes for both women and men.

Here you will deepen your awareness of movement. In an evaluation session you will become aware of your body's learned posture. You will gain an understanding of the difference in neutral, flexed and extended spinal positions and where your posture currently is. Emphasis will be given to you on specific exercises that will bring your spine back into balance.

The word “Core” will be explained as to what body parts make up your core. Your posture, the position of your spine directly relates to how you function in life and how you carry out your activities in daily living.

You will find that Pilates will carry over into other areas of your life. You will strengthen and lengthen your body creating that longer leaner you. And that will in turn lead to a loss in inches, weight reduction, etc.

Practicing the method in the way intended will yield the following quote:

"In 10 sessions, you will feel better, in 20 sessions you will look better, and in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body,"-- Joseph H. Pilates, founder of Pilates.

Our goal at the studio is to help you fullfill your goals, to focus on what you need in your exercise program to enhance your life, to help you create a long happy healthy lifestyle, and to make changes as we become more seasoned in life.  And with that we learn that control can only be happy as quoted by Joseph Pilates.

Joseph Pilates intended to call his method of exercise "contrology".

"Contrology is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit. Through Contrology you first purposely acquire
complete control of your own body and then through proper repetition of its exercises you gradually and progressively acquire that natural rhythm and coordination associated with all your subconscious activities."

A Variety of Jobs or Conditions

Athletics
Athletes have talent, ability, drive, determination, and generally the innate ability to pursue their sport.  But they don’t  possess core stability.  Many times in athletics the training focus is on explosive strength and educating movement patterns with power, agility and coordination.  They overlook the deeper muscles that stabilize the core and the attachments are shortened leading to tightness.  Pilates lengthens as it strengthens with emphasis on deeper muscles which will enhance he athletes ability and decrease injury potential.

Pilates training is sought by top athletes in the following sports:
  • Golf: Tiger Woods

  • Basketball: Jason Kidd

  • Pitcher: Curt Schilling

  • Football: Ruben Brown
